When to delete and when to cancel an appointment
Learn about the differences between cancelling and deleting an appointment and when to use each.
- Deleting an appointment will permanently remove it from your account.
- Cancelling an appointment will mark the appointment as cancelled - it remains available for your reports and can be found in the client's profile.
When to delete
Typically, you would delete an appointment if you made a mistake when creating it and you do not need any record of this appointment.
When to cancel
A cancelled appointment is removed from the calendar but it remains on the clients' profile.
There are several reasons you might prefer to cancel an appointment rather than delete it:
- If you charge a late cancellation fee or something of the like, a cancelled appointment can have a price and can be included on your invoices.
- If you want to keep track of cancellations in your reports, this can be a valuable metric.
- If you want AppointmentGuru to automatically send a cancellation notification to your clients.
